Joan graduated from University of Evansville with Bachelor's Degrees in Marketing and Finance, and is Chief Financial Officer for KinderCo. She worked in Retail Merchandising as a Buyer for William H. Blocks an Indianapolis department store chain for 9 years prior to their purchase by Federated Dry Goods (Lazarus Department Stores), and then managed and bought for a smaller specialty store in Zionsville, Indiana until she purchased the 32-employee company in 1988.

After marrying Michael in 1990, the decision to raise a family became the new priority having their son, James, in 1991. In 1995, she accepted a position with a health insurance TPA as the Executive Coordinator to the President and CEO tracking production, profits and projecting claims from the Team Vice Presidents and coordinating information for monthly monitoring.

She and Michael started KinderCo, Inc. in 1998. She was Den Mother for their sons Cub Scout den from Tiger through Webelo II, and shuttled him from Troop meetings and outings through his Tenderfoot to his level of Life Scout and helped as he reached his goal of Eagle in 2008. She became an avid ice Hockey fan driving James, a member of the Carmel High School Icehounds, to practices and games and kept warm cheering him on! When James and Michael shoot skeet and trap, she has become their trapper (puller). She stops at the actual hunting as the rule "you kill it, you clean it, you eat it" was her idea. She does enjoy eating the duck, pheasant, quail and goose they bring home and Michael so superbly cooks. Just keeping up with James and Michael' calendar's is an organizational challenge.

Joan is an Advanced Certified Master Gardener and enjoys spending time working with several volunteer groups in Indianapolis and Carmel. She and their son, James, were also Karate students. Joanie earned her Sho Don Ho rank along with James. She is recently an NRA member and is enjoying learning the sport of shooting.
